Hello,
I'm new and am starting my plans for my cross country trip from Santa Monica, CA to Jacksonville, FL than down to The Keys. I'm hoping I can leave on or about May 1st. Before than, I would hopefully like to make a couple of connections between here and there. Maybe find someone willing to play tour guide or suggest some interesting place / things to see. I'll be traveling hwy 10 from coast to coast.
Looking forward to my adventures.

Re: Starting my plans for cross country trip
Mon, March 26, 2007 - 7:57 AMBe sure you stop and see "The Thing" (west of Tucson). It is a fun place to get out and stretch your legs, total tourist trap. The rest is dependant on how much time you have. Near Tucson there is a very nice botanical gardens that focuses on deserts of the world. After that, there used to be a great rock shop 10 miles east of Las Cruces, NM. And in Texas there is a turn off to McDonald observatory. I recommend it only if you have time. After that, not much until Abiline, which is a nice city but don't know what there is to see there. Later highway 10 turns into 20 and you end up in Fort Worth. The stockyards is fun, everyday they walk longhorn cattle through the middle. There is a old time train you can ride to downtown Fort Worth. I haven't been east of there since the 70's so can't help you past that. -
